As a complete nailaphobe I find it seriously stressful to appreciate and enjoy nail products as much as the average person; and as soon as a new invention is put out into the world of nail art, I completely block it from my being. Not because I'm a nail snob, because trust me, I'm far too lazy to be as picky as a pretend to be, but it's more the effort. Effort in something so concentrated absolutely breaks me; every time. So when nail strips became a thing, I didn't even have it in me to see what they were all about, until one marvelous sunny afternoon - I picked up the Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips in a kind of dog tooth pattern. The most appealing thing to me was the 'no dry time!' It just pulled me into such a state I could hardly say no, come on, who likes waiting for their nails to dry? Not me.
In the kit you get 16 nail strips - I have no idea why, not many people I know owns 16 finger nails. One nail file, one cuticle pusher backer, and of course instructions! So what you're meant to do is peal of endless amounts of stuff, place on the nail and file of the excess. Sounds easy right? Wrong! I've never used something more fiddly, unsticky and such an awful shape for nails. It seriously took me around about half an hour to get one hand done, and even then I had air bubbles in my nails, and believe me, it's the most irritating thing in the world! None the less, after finally getting them on, I held Sally to her 'lasts up to 10 days' and I was taking no prisoners! Ten days? Did she mean ten minuets? Because they started pealing within almost an instant!
Then after all the drama I decided to get what was left of the strips of my nails, however Sally didn't mention anything about that. So spending God knows how long trying to scrape them off, my poor nails deserved a well O.P.I Nail envy treat.
Will I ever use nail strips again? Never. I think I'm going to stick to waiting for my nails to dry, thanks Sally. It was worth a try!Have you ever tried nail strips? If so what do you think?
