I thought for today's post I'd do something a little different; get two products and pit them together, whilst giving them both a review! Killing two birds with one stone, not that I would kill a bird. It was get away too fast, and let's face it, that's real mean! Let's just jump right in before I start the pointless, self obsessive babble I've seen to have gotten into the habit of doing. I'm going to start with the most expensive of the two; Bobbi Brown Moisturising Repair balm. This is more than a tinted moisturiser, witch kind of isn't fair comparing the two, but who makes the rules? Without repeating myself; yeah I'm about to repeat myself, this isn't just a moisturising balm, this is actually a repair balm. If my memory serves me correctly, the girl on the Bobbi Brown stand had said it hydrates the skin, but also repairs damaged skin cells, witch can lessen dry skin, because rather than it drying a flaking of, it's restore back to how it should be, witch I think is brilliant. This is the tinted version of the Bobbi Brown repair balm, witch I've tried, and hand on my heart, I absolutely love! Particularly in the winter, as it's so rich an moisturising, and it really does make a difference, so this is just the tinted version. If you're looking for coverage, then walk the other way sister, because this has absolutely no coverage what so ever, all the tint does is even the skin tone and personally I find it reduced the redness. So as expected, it's a true tinted moisturiser. It goes on the face very thick and rich, like one big slobber really, it's only until you blend it you start to get a little more comfortable with the feel of it on the skin. The finish is a very dewy finish, and what I like about the finish is, it does look greasy! Witch I find a lot of moisturisers or even foundations with a little bit of moister in them can do after they've been on the skin, witch I find it then starts to slide around the face like it's nobodies business. I have the lightest shade alabaster, and even for my milk bottle white skin, it actually matches to a T! I know Bobbi Brown makeup very well, and I know there is most likely a shade for everyone, I'd be very surprised if someone said there wasn't a shade for them, they're on point with their shade ranges.
The boxing gloves are on, and it's Origins turn to step up! This is just a hydrating tinted moisturiser, from the vitazing range, witch can we all just take a moment to inhale how mutha effing good that shit is! So as a moisturiser, it's a pretty darn good moisturiser, it really hydrates my skin where I need it. The selling point of this is that it can be used on any skin tone. It's all one shade, and it comes out as a white/grey colour with little beads, and when you blend it in, it apparently matches your skin tone, and warms the skin to give it a natural healthy glow. Personally for me, like plenty other reviews I'd read about this, its a little too orange on my skin, even when it's summer, and I have a little but of colour on my face. But I really like to mix this in with my foundations to give the foundation a little bit of moisture, and to also add bit a bit of a dewy glow too. The longgevity of this is fantastic, it stays put all day, doesn't slide around or get greasy, and it doesn't dry out towards the end of the day!
Witch one do I prefer? It has to be Bobbi, sorry Origins. I just find with the Bobbi Brown you can just whack it on and go, and not have to worry weather it's too orange. Also Bobbi does a lot more for my skin, in terms of repairing and maintaining it, witch I think is super important. But that doesn't mean that Origins is going to the back of the drawers, I still absolutely love this product!
Let me know if you've tried out either of these products, and witch one you like the best!
Love Meg xxx
